Extreme Home Makeover show?

What do you reckon about the mansion they built for the “needy” family in Georgia in 2005 that is now in foreclosure because the family used it as collateral on a $450,000 loan for a business and then lost it? I watch this show alot and I always thought it was touching. Now I wonder if this family was even in need in the first place or were they just ignorant in their choices? What do you reckon?

i loved that show once upon a time too. but then i saw it take place in real life. it is absolutely the most phoney baloney thing ever. when they show that the stars are carrying out the end of the families things ready to knock the house down it’s already been emptied for days. the boxes the stars are carrying are empty. the family went out a few days before they start filming. the new house is built in pieces and waiting just a few houses away. the cranes they have people run with and look like they’re destroying the house do that same shot about 10 times. they yell and run then back up and do it again and again. just goes to show that that show really doesn’t do it for the greater excellent they do it to get better ratings and money from sponsors.

I reckon it is a terrible waste. There should be something in the contract to place the home in some kind of trust so no one else could do the same. A couple months ago I read where one of the families kicked out the kids. This couple took in 3 or 4 boys that the parents had died etc… They got the huge pretty house & kicked the boys out—-that one pissed me off too. It is a fantastic show with a excellent thought, but the people need to be protected from themselves.

I reckon the need was there to start with but that they made a choice to use it as collateral that was not a sound business choice. I wonder what made them reckon they could handle a large business loan like that when they cannot manage to place a roof over their heads. I hope extreme makeover puts a clause in the agreements on future houses they do that the house can not be used as collateral or second mortgage–people need to respect the gift they are given! I reckon it is a shame that the company giving the loan accepted them for a loan. I guess for some people it is a mindset of “simple come, simple go”.
